Your child's first visit
What to expect, from the front door to the games you take home.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
Our front desk checks your child's benefits and calls you. You fill in forms on our portal, and you tell us what you have noticed when you are in the room.
- 02
Step 2: Arrive and play
Your child comes in, looks around and starts a warm-up game. Take your time. Shoes come off if your child likes.
- 03
Step 3: The movement check
Your child walks, runs, climbs and hops along a path of mats and steps while the therapist watches. It is a game, not a test.
- 04
Step 4: A talk with you
The therapist tells you in plain words what they saw, what it may mean, and whether another doctor should look too. You ask your questions.
- 05
Step 5: A play list for home
You leave with a few games in writing. If a plan makes sense, we agree on one together, and you can say no.
What to wear and bring
Clothes to move in, and the shoes they wear
Comfortable clothes your child can run and climb in, and the shoes they wear most days. A water bottle and a snack help, and so does a favorite toy. Bring your plan card and any note from your pediatrician.
Good to know
A parent or grown-up stays in the room
The first visit is about an hour
Siblings are welcome in the waiting area

What we leave for later
A first visit is for looking and talking. Nothing big is decided at the door.
No schedule at the door
We talk about how often to come only after we have seen how your child moves, and you can take time to think.
No pressure to start
If a plan makes sense, we explain it. If your pediatrician or another doctor should look first, we say so.
No surprises about paying
You hear what to expect from your plan, or a written estimate if you pay yourself, before you come.
